Minsk, April 28th 2004 -- Alexander Bokovoy has posted his first prototype of the object abstraction system for Midgard2.
The object abstraction system uses glib2. The current status can be seen from the discussion on the #midgard IRC channel:
ab: bergie: <URL> contains current state of art
bergie: ab: wow, actual code, not just concept?
bergie: ab: something we'll see much more about in Poznan, I guess :-)
ab: bergie: actual code for type generator
...
ab: bergie: it is able to create class hierarchy and attach properties to classes. And you can manipulate values
bergie: nice
bergie: Ragnaroek, here we come! :-)
ab: bergie: next thing will be to get signals and methods working and make a scripting binding for that. Then we can play with ideas over working code
bergie: ok
bergie: I'll post this to dev
tarjei: ab: is the demo working ?
ab: yes
ab: for me and Piotras, at least
ab: it is not packaged at all -- no configure, etc. So you need to have glib2 installed and pkgconfig
...
tarjei: so no makefile either?
ab: tarjei: still, it is only one small part of what needs to be done.
tarjei: I guess I'll wait a bit :-)
ab: I'd like people who knows C to look at the code to understand what is current direction
ab: Because otherwise we would be in danger to get too big gap
Midgard2 strategy discussions will be major part of the May 8th-9th meeting in Poznan, Poland.
