mRFCs: Standardizing Midgard Specification Process

Posted on 2004-03-26 16:11:53 CET.

HELSINKI, Mar 26th 2004 -- The process of specifying new features or additions to the Midgard CMS system has now been standardized into the Midgard Request For Comments (mRFC) model.

Based on Tarjei Huse's suggestion, the Midgard Requests For Comments proposal was accepted on the Midgard developers list after some discussion.

The mRFC model means that all new feature specifications for Midgard need to be submitted in standardized format to the Midgard website. Requests For Comments go through an annotation and revisal period, and are finally voted on by Midgard Contributors.

This clarifies the process of adding new aspects to the Midgard CMS environment, and hopefully improves documentation on new features.

The first Request For Comments document, mRFC 0001 (Midgard Specification Process) was accepted with a +7 vote on Mar 26th. The document introduces the mRFC format and approval model, and makes some notes on how the mRFC model interoperates with Midgard CVS repository and Issue Tracker.
