Installing Additional Packages

Midgard applications are distributed with the midgard-data package, as separate Repligard packages or they are available through the new Datagard download function. The default packages are usually already available after datagard has been installed. Additional packages need to be installed from separate distro packages (if they are packaged for your distro) or by using the datagard download command (if they are not packaged for you distro or you installed midgard from source).

If you are installing an application which is not available as official midgard package with midgard-data, as sepatate distro package or through the download option (meaning it is from third party or perhaps your own package), you need to place the tar/xml files of the application to the Midgard pkgs or data directory (usually /usr/share/midgard/pkgs (/usr/share/midgard/data in 1.6.x) or similar).

To see concepts about storing configuration and other files see the Upgrade Notes .

In Fedora Core and SuSE Linux : Execute datagard as root.

In other OS/distros: Execute datagard download as root.

Select "Import" from the menu. (If you used the download parameter, first select the new/updated packages to be downloaded.)

Next, select the correct database from the list. Then insert the Midgard database username and password when asked.

Select the new/updated packages you would like to import (or update). Space selects or unselects a package. You can select multiple packages at once.

Next, datagard asks the Midgard SG0 sitegroup administrator username and password. After that datagard performs the imports through repligard. It can take a while if you have selected a large amount of packages on a slow hardware. Usually it takes only a few minutes (or even seconds) though.
