Aegir CMS 1.0 released

Version 1.0 marks an important milestone in the development process. Aegir CMS is derived from the successful Nadmin Studio codebase and is developed by an international group of Open Source developers. The application is available under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Aegir CMS runs on top of the Midgard Content Management Framework built on the Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) platform. Midgard powers thousands of websites ranging from small organizational websites (www.oscom.org) to major portals like New Zealand eGovernment site (www.govt.nz) and Playbill (www.playbill.com).

Aegir CMS's key features include:

• MS Word -compatible content editor
• Easy publishing environment for non-technical users
• Requires MS Internet Explorer 5.01+ or Mozilla 1.3+
• Group-based workflow settings
• Different roles: Designers (layout), Developers (logic and structure), Authors (content production), Editors (content approval and publication)
• Roles are based on group settings and ownership of different content areas
  
• Power users have access to revision control (RCS) and moving content objects
  
• Staging/live setup
• Prepare you site changes in staging environment, test and finally publish to live site when ready
• Use scheduled publication or publish to site immediately
• Multi-company hosting (ASP) support
• Each company is assigned to their own virtual database

Changes from Aegir CMS 1.0 RC2:

• Changed from HKLC Nadmin Studio Interface License to GNU General Public License
• Browser detection for default WYSIWYG editor selection
• Alert added for the "Publish" button
• Implemented "Index article mode" where content of a directory is stored to an article named "index" instead of the MidgardTopic object
• Mime type settings of images uploaded as Zip archives fixed
• Better cache support for the Aegir attachment server and Sample Site

The Aegir CMS project

The Aegir CMS development project aims to further improve the Nadmin Studio codebase to provide the most versatile and user-friendly Content Management System built on an Open Source framework.
