News & Articles is the area of Aegir that can be used for managing the actual contents of a website. In Midgard the website logic (Pages) and contents structure (Topics) are separated, and articles need to be pulled into corresponding web address using an URL parser like MidCOM or NemeinNavBar, or by writing PHP code.

Using Topics and Articles

By default Articles and Topics are included using PHP functions, to do this involves reading API Reference section. However, there are several different ways to display articles on the website, including the MidCOM component templates.

This is just a brief explanation of what is available via the interface in terms of editing and creating these objects. - Chances are that an end user of the system, somebody who solely concentrates on writing and/or editing documents will log into midgard and only see the News & Articles tabs - from where they will just add or edit articles etc.

Articles are designed to contain 2 primary fields - the abstract and the content. these are intended to be a summary (abstract) of the article and the body (content) of the article, in such a way that a summarized index page can be created by just outputing the content of the abstracts.
