When the System Administrator creates a new organization, an Administrator account is also being created. This account is member in the most powerful group in the organization, the organization's Administrator Group. The access rights settings of this group determine the functionalities available to the other groups in the organization.
To create other groups and users in the company, login to the Aegir administrative interface as the organization administrator, e.g. test_admin. All the users must be assigned to a group or groups according to their responsibilities in Midgard CMS.
Create New Groups for an organization
- Open the Groups & People tab in the left menu.
- Click on the New Group button under the tab.
- In the Create New Group window as shown below, type in the name of the new group and uncheck the unnecessary access rights of this group.

- Press Submit to confirm.
When the new group is created, message "Group has been created" will be displayed and in the left menu under the Groups & People tab, the name of the new group will be added to the list.
Edit Group Information
Clicking on a group name from the left menu will display the Edit Group Information window on the right, allowing you to modify the name of the group, the access rights settings, and the belonging members.
The Approve Websites permission in the list controls whether the members of the group can approve content they own.
Create New Person
- Open the Groups & People tab in the left menu.
- Click on the New Person button under the tab.
- In the Create New Person window as shown below, type in the username of the new person and the password, then select a group or groups that the new person belongs.

- Press Submit to confirm.
Edit Person Information
Clicking on a person from the left menu will display the Person Information window on the right as shown below, allowing you to modify the person's name and group memberships.
Tasks
Create the groups Designers and Editors for your organization.
Create user John and assign him to the Designers group; create user Mary and assign her to the Editors group.
Assign the ownership of your site's Style to the Designers group
Assign the ownership of your site's root topic to the Editors group
