Folder management with MidCOM
Folders are used to create the site structure. Besides this, folders are also used to store and handle data or pages.
Each of the folders have been signed a component, which describes to the content management system how to handle the data. For example, Event calendar handles the stored data as events: when time has passed the end of an event, component stops displaying that event.
Creating a new folder
A new folder is created by selecting Folder -> Create subfolder.
- URL name is name of the target. Through this name it is possible to define, which URL refers to the currently created folder. You are not required to enter the URL name, as the system will automatically generate the missing URL name from the Title.
- URL name should be lower case ASCII (a-z, 0-9) and has to be without breaks; a good practice is to replace spaces with slash -.
- Title is the name, which will be shown in the navigation.
- Folder type is the selection for component. You will be offered the samy type of the component as the parent is as a default, but - depending on the installation - there are usually many different functionalities, such as

- Photo gallery (net.siriux.photos)
- Sitemap (de.linkm.sitemap)
- Style template can be used to define the way content will be presented. Style templates are almost always customized to the needs of the site and you should be informed by your site manager if there is any need for using customized templates.

E.g. the most commonly used folder type, Regular content (net.nehmer.static), is sortable.
To arrange the navigation items, click on the appropriate tool from Folder -> Arrange navigation items.
You can choose the preferred order of items from the dropdown list and arrange the items by dragging and dropping them to their places.
