Solr Indexer and special characters

  1. Solr Indexer and special characters

    Wed March 12 2008 13:05:02 UTC
    Hi!

I'm fiddling with my indexer installation again and noticed that it's
not possible to search for a string containing a special character. For
example, "gepäck" always becomes "gep?ck" in the jetty log file, and
    consequently, no results are returned.

I've searched a bit on Google, but only found one hint on how the
problem might be corrected when using tomcat as a servlet container (but
I failed miserably in getting it installed), and another one about using
a solr.PatternReplaceFilterFactory filter to convert the special
characters, but this only leads to Schema Parsing Failed exceptions.

So I wanted to ask if anybody has experience with this. What needs to be
done to set up Solr properly? I followed the documentation on m-p.org,
but it doesn't say anything about this issue.

    Bye,

    Andreas
