  1. OpenPSA setup

    Wed May 20 2009 14:35:09 UTC
    Hi!

How does OpenPSA setup look like these days?
I have been asked about this and suggested simple pear packages install
    first.
But this doesn't seem to work:

    pear install ragnaroek/org_openpsa_mypage
    ragnaroek/template_OpenPsa2

Failed to update element "breadcrumb" under Midgard style
"template_OpenPsa2", error Resource link crosses sitegroup borders

AFAIC, it's all manual, i.e. I have an installation dating from 2.4, and
I copy it every time I need a new playground or something. when template
files change, I copy them manually to all the databases I need. Yes, it
sucks, but I really didn't find anything else that works. This ticket:

    http://trac.midgard-project.org/ticket/709#comment:2

suggests creating a structure file, so somebody can point me to some
related documentation, I might do that in a quiet moment, but for now
it's really every man for himself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that indicate a midcom and/or
    midgard core problem?

I have no idea what should be done manually, so I doubt I can do anything :/

Might be a template is too old or some role package tries to do
    something weird.

Well, the template .php files somehow have to get into the db as style
elements and you should have a root topic (preferably o.o.mypage) that
is using this style. If the template package is really borked, it might
be necesary to copy JS/CSS to the template_OpenPsa2 directory under
midcom-static from hand as well. All the other components should install
    normally from PEAR

Afterwards, it's really only a question of which modules you want to
use, you can just create the respective topics using normal midcom
    toolbar or asgard features

    Hi,

How does OpenPSA setup look like these days?

We need to create an option in datagard for setting up OpenPSA site instead of normal "CMS" site. This means different components installed, different default template and a default topic structure that includes all the OpenPSA folders.

Piotras, how big deal would this be?

Adding yet another action to DG shouldn't be difficult.
But structure creation is something experimental.
And the question is, what are we going to do with these since Mjolnir .

Good, then let's do it for Ragnaroek ASAP.

OpenPSA is a good application, and it deserves more users :-)

And the question is, what are we going to do with these since Mjolnir.

In Mjolnir this kind of stuff will happen via mRFC 0043 Buckets: http://www.midgard-project.org/development/mrfc/0043

Ok, there is a Ragnaroek blocker for this:

Midgard package (application) installer is ready for testing.
Currently we have support for 'blog' and 'openpsa' apps.
Though, the latter misses structure file.

Take a look how to create "application":
    http://trac.midgard-project.org/browser/branches/ragnaroek/midgard/data/midgard/setup/php/midgard_setup_app.php?rev=22755

As you see, it's simple array, for which, key is application name.
Additionally it holds required pear packages and templates.
And of course structure config file.

Use datagard, to install named application:

    datagard -a install -p APP_NAME

    For example:

    datagard -c testconfig -a install -p blog

    Installing application are few steps:

    1. Ask for sitegroup (SG0 is default) and login in as root
    2. Install all required pear packages and templates
(net_nehmer_blog and template_SimpleGray for given example)
    3. Ask for target sitegroup
    4. Install groups, permissions and topic(s) from structure file.

New packages will be available soon:
    http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/midgardproject:/ragnaroek-dev/

BTW, please, also test direct OBS repository. They changed debian
    Packages file recently.
Example sources.list entry for debian etch:

    deb
    http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/midgardproject:/ragnaroek-dev/Debian_Etch
    ./

    Great!

Now we need the structure file for OpenPSA, then (Flack, can you make
    one? /midcom-exec-midcom.helper.filesync/export_structure.php is your
    friend).

And possibly also we could consider other pre-made Ragnaroek setups.
There are many components / combinations of components that could be
    useful if easily installable.

I think the doc pages for Debian and Ubuntu should be updated accordingly.
