Ragnaroek .8

  1. Ragnaroek .8

    Wed March 17 2010 12:30:08 UTC
    Hi!

Please check Ragnaroek tickets at trac.
There are more than 100 tickets closed since .7:
    http://trac.midgard-project.org/query?status=closed&milestone=8.09.8+Ragnaroek

    Open tickets:
    http://trac.midgard-project.org/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&milestone=8.09.8+Ragnaroek&order=priority

If there are no objections, I'll release .8 next week.

    Piotras

    Sounds like a plan.
Will try to reduce list of open bugs a bit :)

One thing that would be nice to fix is #1655, since this breaks all
installations that depend on template packages. Other than that, a new
    release sounds lovely :-)

#651 has been there quite a while and it's something that has annoyed a
lot of installations, so if someone would have some time to fix that, I
would be really happy camper :P

    Great!

The important group to focus on is the actual defects:
    http://trac.midgard-project.org/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&milestone=8.09.8+Ragnaroek&type=defect&order=priority

There are currently 107 defects open. This may sound like a lot, but
remember that in Ragna cycle we've already closed some 673 of them (in
    1.5 years).
If we make a push for it, we should be able to halve that number quite
easily. I'm sure a lot of them are actually fixed ones, just the bugs
    have not been closed.

It should be basically fixed in
    http://trac.midgard-project.org/changeset/23305, however maybe the
default metadata schema should have a checkbox that sets that parameter
(in any case you can make a custom metadata schema), and this is not
inheritable in any way (that would be rather complex to do)

    One quick question about http://trac.midgard-project.org/ticket/1596:

do you guys think we should switch to jquery 1.4 by default and close
the ticket or would you prefer to keep it the way it is right now, i.e.
jquery 1.2.6 as default and 1.4.2 as config option? I'm running 1.4
without any issues for some time now, but obviously didn't test all the
    setups in the world.

    Bye,

jQuery 1.4 would be good for long-term supportability. The issue is
that in addition to the regular Midgard UIs (which are easy to test),
lots of websites use their own jQuery JS code that may or may not
    work.

If we switch the default to 1.4, then this has to be prominently
mentioned in release notes with easy instructions for using the older
    version instead.

I just noticed there are no Ragna builds for Debian Etch (4.0) any
longer on OBS. Can this be added?

There's no such target on OBS :/
