On Ragnaland

  1. On Ragnaland

    Hi, all

We did some Ragnaland hacking with Ferenc on Friday, and now it seems
to run quite happily under Mjolnir and midgard2-runtime.

The approach we took was running Ragnaland under Midgard MVC, by
having a new component that bootstraps the necessary Midgard 8.09 -ish
    environment for Ragnaland to run.

This means the Ragnaroek MidCOM environment under Mjolnir should work
exactly like it does under 8.09, except for a few things:

    * There is no sitegroup or multilang support (we disable these quite
nicely on MidCOM DBA level, too)
    * There is no host (though if components really need it I can provide one)
    * Authentication is handled by Midgard MVC instead of MidCOM (meaning
it uses the new Mjolnir auth API)

At first we're targeting developer installations (filesync to a real
Ragna server when you're done), but eventually I image production
servers could run with Midgard2 as well, reducing the usage of legacy
code and helping us all migrate to the new world.

As soon as midgard2-installer is there I hope to create a Midgard
application bundle that provides Ragna. This should make development a
    lot easier!

    /Henri
